ABOUT NAJ (UK)

The Nurses Association of Jamaica (UK) is a non-profit making charitable organisation founded in 1978 by a small group of nurses whose vision was to provide support, advice and guidance to the new recruits coming to the UK from Jamaica.

MEMBERSHIP

Our membership is diverse and is drawn from Nursing, Midwifery, Health visiting, allied professionals and those who support the organisations' objectives. There is an annual subscription of £30. Student subscription is £10, all fees are paid in January of each year. These fees are reviewed and agreed annually at the Annual General Meeting. Membership is open to individuals over 18 years old who are interested in furthering the objectives of the Charity.

BENEFITS & OPPORTUNITIES

The benefits include receiving support, advice and guidance relating to education, professional and personal issues. NAJ (UK) also provide mentoring and coaching to support development. We promote participation in seminars, conference debates on social health and professional issues. We also encourage networking, sharing knowledge and expertise across diverse communities. There are opportunities to apply for grants and bursuries to assist in members' educational development while providing a social forum for friendship and support.

MEETINGS

Our Constitution sets out how the Nurses Association of Jamaica (UK) a charitable organisation will be governed. NAJ (UK) will work with members, trustees, patrons and partners to achieve its charitable aims and objects for public benefit. In order to raise funds to advance the objects of NAJ (UK), sponsorship will be sought.

NAJ (UK) is managed by Trustees, a President and an elected Executive Committee nominated by members from each branch. Charitable status was gained in 1998.
